Job Title: Insurance Verification Specialist

Job Overview: The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage to ensure necessary procedures are covered by an individual’s provider. This role is pivotal in preventing insurance claim rejections by performing precise checks and accurately updating patient records in our Dentrix system. The specialist will interact regularly with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to streamline the verification process and maintain effective communication about coverage and benefits.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Gather Patient Insurance Information: Collect accurate insurance details from patients during check-in. Enter and update information in the Dentrix Family File module.
Verify Insurance Eligibility and Benefits: Use Dentrix eCentral for electronic verifications or conduct manual verifications by phone. Confirm details like eligibility, coverage specifics, deductibles, and copayments.
Update Patient Records: Input verified insurance information into Dentrix, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accurately reflects the patient’s current coverage status.
Communicate with Patients: Clearly explain insurance benefits, out-of-pocket costs, and answer any inquiries related to coverage. Ensure patients understand their financial responsibilities before receiving services.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of insurance verifications and communications in the patient’s file and the Office Journal within Dentrix.
Compliance: Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and office policies regarding patient data privacy and security.
Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about the latest updates in insurance policies, Dentrix software enhancements, and participate in training and development opportunities.
Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in an insurance verification role within a healthcare setting, preferably in a dental office.
Skills:
Proficiency in Dentrix software is highly preferred but not required.
Strong understanding of medical/dental insurance processes and terminology.
Excellent organizational and data entry skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with patients, team members, and insurance representatives.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and follow-through.
Excellent English-speaking skills are essential.

Other Requirements:

Regular full-time working hours – 40 hrs/Week
New York, USA working hours between 9:00 AM – 5:00PM EST
